Mobile Kitesurfing School: A Holistic Design Approach

PROJECT KITELY

Introduction:

Every adventure begins with the first step, and for many kitesurfing enthusiasts, that first step is often an introductory class. Recognizing the need for a holistic experience for both instructors and students, I undertook the task of not only designing the digital interfaces but also creating the physical spaces that would foster a seamless learning journey.

Problem statment:

Kitesurfing schools require a blend of efficient organizational tools and engaging student experiences. From the website's first click to the practicalities of equipment storage and changing spaces, every touchpoint needs to be optimized for functionality, safety, and aesthetic appeal.

Digital Interface - UI/UX

The primary point of interaction for potential students is the website. Understanding this, I employed a user-centric design, ensuring easy navigation, clear information presentation, and a seamless booking system. The challenge was to make the process intuitive for all age groups, considering the diverse clientele of a kitesurfing school.

Operational Efficiency

Behind the scenes, efficient organization is crucial. Using Notion, a co-workers' interface was designed to manage class schedules, student progress, equipment maintenance, and more. The focus was to reduce administrative time and increase time spent on instruction and student interaction.

Physical Space The Kiteschool Bus

Recognizing the need for mobility and efficient storage, the Kiteschool Bus was conceptualized. The bus needed to house equipment, provide a space for changing, and securely store personal belongings, all while reflecting the brand's vibrant energy. The design considerations included.

Storage Solutions

Custom hangers for accessories, designated spaces for boards, kites, and personal belongings.

Functional Interiors

Spaces crafted for easy movement, ensuring students could change comfortably without feeling cramped.

Branding

A visually captivating exterior design using large sticker art, serving as a mobile billboard, that brings clients.

Creating a Physical Layout for Posters, Flyers, and Additional Print Materials

In response to the need for an efficient storage solution for our posters, flyers, and stickers, we developed a space that keeps these materials well-organized and easily accessible while maintaining our brand's vibrant aesthetics. Considerations for the design included."

Outcome

The end result was a comprehensive solution that addressed both digital and physical touchpoints of a kitesurfing school. The website saw increased bookings, the Notion interface reduced administrative overheads, and the Kiteschool Bus became a hallmark of the school, drawing attention wherever it went.

Approach

The user-friendly website was more than a booking tool; it started the student's journey. Tools like Notion streamlined operations, letting teachers focus on teaching. The innovative Kiteschool Bus ensured easy equipment access and gave students a sense of community.
